D. Gatheright's motto is "I have failed so many times that I stumbled unto success." A never give up mentality has helped him become a wonderful speaker, accomplished writer, an excellent teacher. His speaking, teaching, writing, and lifestyle reflects a life of using faith to overcome fear. His faith in God controls and consoles him and this is evident in all his endeavors.

He was born in Chicago, IL, and is one out of eighteen children. D. Gatheright has been married to Gabrielle Gatheright for twenty-five years and has four wonderful children Denisya, Dennis II, Gabriella, Gabriel. Also, God has blessed the family with two wonderful grandchildren Celeste and Celene.
